I’ve been designing stacking bands for the Zaleska collection as a way to appreciate the beauty of simplicity.
Agnes Martin was a Canadian painter who’s work is often referred to as minimalism, yet she self-described as an abstract expressionist. Her repetitive, emotional paintings were meant to depict the gloriousness and simplicity of being. She painted feelings - joy, beauty, innocence, and happiness, to name a few. By going within for inspiration, she suggested metaphorical worlds for her viewers to contemplate. Because of the subtleties of her work, prints of her paintings were very hard to create and therefore she did not reach the same levels of fame as her masculine counterparts of the time.
